Road  Safety  Programme

The Expert Committee on Public Road Transportation (PRTC) under the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) joined hands with key stakeholders, including the Colombo Traffic Headquarters, the Road Development Authority (RDA), the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), and the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC) to organize a comprehensive Road Safety Programme. This significant event took place at Royal College Colombo on the 10th of October 2023.

The program encompassed a multifaceted approach, with two main components:

  1. Vehicle Roadworthiness Check on School Vans and Buses: An essential vehicle inspection aimed at ensuring the safety and reliability of school transportation, particularly focusing on school vans and buses.

  2. Awareness Session for Students: The program included an informative and engaging awareness session designed for students from Royal College, Ananda College, and D.S. Senanayaka Vidyalaya. The session aimed to educate and empower the youth with crucial road safety knowledge, promoting safer practices on the road.

This collaborative effort between SLMA’s Expert Committee on PRTC and various government bodies underscores a shared commitment to enhancing road safety and ensuring the well-being of our community.
